Born in Kumasi on the 25th October 1959, Hon. NANA KOFI SENYA did his Basic Education at the St. Joseph Experimental school at Ashtown in Kumasi, and proceeded to Tweneboah Kodua Senior Secondary School at Kumawu in 1972, and completed in 1977.

The young Senya after his Secondary Education proceeded to the United States of America under the sponsorship of his mother to develop himself academically and financially. He stayed in the USA for about 10years before returning to Ghana in 1991. He obtained a Diploma in Electronic Engineering at the National Education Center Houston, Texas.

On his return to Ghana, Hon. Senya set up his Blue Eyes hotel at Afrancho near Breman, Kumasi. He has been running his hotel business since its establishment in the early 1990s. Nana Senya is also a large scale Citrus Farmer. Again, He Pursued Bachelor of Commerce (management) from College of Distance Education, UCC.

The Hon. Nana Kofi Senyah is an astute politician and a veteran local government practitioner in Ghana whose extensive experience and deep knowledge of the District Assembly concept has never being in doubt.

In November,1998 He became an Assembly member for new Suame electoral area.

For 20years, the Honorable Senya has served the people of New Suame Electoral Area at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) with an unblemished record. He’s known for his fears criticism of actions tinted with act of corruption at the KMA.

When we talk about serving The New Patriotic Party , Hon. Nana Kofi Senya has been a member of the New Patriotic Party for a long time with the Suame Constituency and Ashanti region in general, helping in diverse ways to develop the party at Suame and in the region.

At the constituency level , he has been a special contributor for Suame constituency and has been a patron of the Suame Constituency branch of the NPP and a member of the Finance committee of the Regional party level.

He has sacrificed a lot with his Money and hotel for Party work at the suame constituency.He contributed financially to suame constituency, example is given 13 women organizers each 1,000ghana cedis to facilitate their school feeding Program when they needed an assistant, the sum amount was 13,000ghana cedis. Again , He gave his hotel blue eye to host Suame delegates to campaign for Majority leader Honourable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu in 2016 Primaries.

In the year 2000, As an assembly member at KMA, The NPP caucus in KMA made a special contribution to Chairman FF antoh and campaign vigorously for NPP to come to Power in 2001. The NPP Caucus led by Nana Kofi Senya hand notable names like Honourable Osei kwaku (asokwa) , Honourable Richard Anane ( Bantama), Honourable Osei Wusu (Bekwai) etc led a demonstration against Nana Akwasi Agyemang when he slapped Honourable Dr Anane and was with Rampaged with NPP assembly members.

When it comes to regional Level Elections, He has been a leader for Drobonso constituency elections ,Suame constituency executives elections and Part of those who organized Manhyia South Constituency Executives Primaries. He has been a vetting committee member of Ashanti Region with Osei Prempeh as Chairman.

Moreover, Nana Kofi Senya Assisted Former Ashanti Regional NPP Secretary Honourable Samuel Pyne to purchase Engine for Party Pick up which was used for campaign.

Hon. Senya was also a patron of the NPP Caucus of Assembly members at KMA and played a pivotal role in this caucus in the 2016 general election. He helped in organizing Assembly members in the region to support the party, under the name “NPP Assembly Members’ Caucus in the Ashanti region to help the party win the 2016 general elections.

Furthermore, we can talk more of his immerse contributions to New Patriotic Party . He was incharge of organizing Polling station executives election in Drobonso (Sekyere Afram Plains) in January,2017.

He was the Chairman for Campaign message and special Operations in December 2020 elections.Because of his Experience and hardwork, he was honored as the committee chairman for Rural Areas in 2020 elections.

Nana Kofi Senya did a lot in the field of Local Government. As an Assembly Member for the new Suame Electoral Area, the Hon. Senya combined effectively with the Member of Parliament for the Suame Constituency, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, to help deliver some infrastructure projects and programs to the people of Suame.

There is a saying that, Hardwork Pays , The Honourable Nana Senya was adjourned for the best Presiding member in Ghana together with Honourable Samuel Sarpong as the best Mayor.

He cherishes his Association with the District Assembly concept that he has resisted numerous calls from his well wishers to venture into other areas of public life. For almost 20years period that he being at the Assembly, his colleague Assembly members has, on three different occasions, spanning 6 years, elected him as the presiding member of the KMA. In other words, he has been the presiding member for 6 years.

The Hon Nana Kofi Senya holds the record in Ashanti Region as the All time Presiding Member at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

It’s the Hon. SENYA’s vision to see a local government system that is responsive to the every day needs of the people of kumasi, a vision he has persuade vigorously all these years at the KMA.

In his daily activities, he has encountered several people from different backgrounds who needed one form of help or the other in their daily lives. He has, in his small ways supported such persons but felt that ye could do more for the people if certain social goals and services were made available to the community for the benefit of the people. This is how come he ventured into the local government system and became the Assembly Member for the New Suame Electoral Area in Kumasi. He has been reelected 4 times after winning the election in 1998.

At the Assembly, he quickly endeared himself to his colleague Assembly members, which has seen him chair many of the statutory subcommittees of the Executive committee of the Assembly; the Justice and Security, Environmental, Finance and Administration Sub-committees. By virtue of his position as the Presiding Member he has chaired one of the only two main committees of the Assembly; the public relations and complaints committee.

Hon. SENYA’s membership of the Manhyia’s sub metropolitan district council of the KMA saw him being elected as chairman on two different occasions. Hon. SENYA is the immediate Past chairman of the Suame sub metropolitan District council and also the chair of Finance and Administration subcommittee of the KMA.

As the immediate Past chairman of the Environmental Sub Committee of the Executive Committee of the KMA at a point in time, he conceived the “pay as you dump” idea and recommended same to the committee which adopted it for the consideration of the Executive Committee of the KMA. The Assembly ultimately adopted it and made same part of it policy on waste management. This idea has since been adopted by other Assemblies throughout the country.

A noble group of Association of Presiding Members in the Ashanti region elected him on two different occasions as the Chairman of the group since 2009 when the group was formed.

Honourable Nana Kofi Senya has written his name with ink in the history of Local Government and Ghana Politics. This is the Man we are celebrating Today. The Legend Legacy still lives on and inspiring many Young Ghanaians.
